Objective of the tool/method
Video sequences of all important stages of making bast, wicker and straw products were developed to illustrate the tasks for practical part of tests for pepole who want to get their skills of craft of bast, wicker or straw products making acknowledged by the Certificate of National Vocational Qualification.
The objective is to compare their procedures and possibly correct them if necessary before the practical exam, which is not obligatory if the portfolio for NVQ is sufficiently informative. (about the NVQ system see How to aknowledge traditional knowledge? in "Practical experiences").
Description of the tool
Video sequences are a part of documentation of Standars and Cataloque of konwledge for aquiring the NVQ of basket maker. It contains short videos with comments (in slovenian) illustrating all crucial stages of preparing materials and making products from bast, wicker or straw.

where video sequences are marked red and divided in three sections:

3.2 Procedures of making products of wicker
3.3 Making a small basket with the wooden bottom
By clicking the red text different .avi files are activated depicting different stages of basket making with comentars (in Slovenian) and at the end descriprions fo mistakes which are observed by comission members at the practical exam.
Succes factor
Short videos were ment for the information about the practical exam. But they are also the basis for correction of skills of basket making someone has got trough different ways of agriecological knowledge transfer.
It can be used also as demonstration or self improvement tool for skills connected to basket making.
Videos are simple and concentrated on one task only per video. They are easily understood also without commentarry which is till now only in Slovenian language.
CAFS obtained the permission to translate the videos if there will be interest by SAGITER partners.
Challenges
Interesting material is only a part of NVQ system and it is not easily accessable. Maybe also the language barier would pose a difficulty for interested viewers from abroad.
